Seven Reasons to Holiday in France

As autumn makes more of a mark on the UK with every passing day, the summer and the lovely long holiday that came with it is fast becoming a mere memory. It almost feels as though it never happened at all, which can only mean one thing – it’s time to start thinking about your next trip!

If you’re wondering where to go on your next holiday, speculate no more. Here are seven reasons to book a well-deserved break in France.

1. Mouth-watering food

-With croissants for breakfast and a divine selection of French cheeses for a sumptuous after-dinner treat, the French don’t do food by halves! The port of La Rochelle boasts outstanding seafood restaurants and the gastronomic traditions of the Dordogne are a big pull for holidaymakers with truffle, duck confit and a vast array of delectable wines on offer.

2. Diverse landscape-

From snow-capped peaks and crystal clear lakes in the French Alps to the rugged coastline and sandy coves in the north, there is something to suit all tastes. The country is garnished with thick forests of pine trees, sloping vineyards and meandering rivers, with stretches of golden sand and spectacular caverns thrown in for good measure.

3. Natural and manmade beauty-

Home to clear flowing rivers, rocky gorges and towering limestone cliffs that reach 300 metres, the Ardèche has some of France’s most glorious areas of countryside. Elsewhere, La Roque Gageac in the Dordogne is frequently voted the country’s prettiest village and Sarlat is a charming town, carved from golden sandstone.

4. Steeped in history- Stories of the past are whispered from every corner of Normandy, which is home to the D-Day Landing Beaches, the rumoured birthplace of William the Conqueror and the host of numerous memorials and museums.

5. Family-friendly

-France is a great holiday destination for the kids. Rollerblade along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, visit the shark tank at La Rochelle’s huge aquarium and marvel at the butterfly garden in lively Vannes.

There are plenty of luxury camp sites in France to transform a family break into a big adventure, but also provide both kids and adults with a chance to relax, so you won’t be short of a quiet place to rest your head.

6. Paris-

This iconic city is a big enough tourist attraction to be a standalone category. In addition to being family-friendly with Disneyland Paris nearby, Paris boasts the famous Mona Lisa, the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral and of course, the Eiffel Tower, which offers superb views across the city.

7. Breathtaking beaches

-South Brittany is bursting with long white stretches of sandy beach, with beautiful Bénodet being among the most popular family resorts. With its Mediterranean-like climate and leisurely lifestyle, the Côte d’Azur is a magnet for holiday makers and the stunning celebrity-owned superyachts are always close by.
